the AGA sent me a present!
Posted by David under editorial
I receive the semi-weekly emails from the AGA mailing list, since recently joining as a member, and recently got the following nice present in my mailbox:
Wow, a $15 dollar gift certificate! I responded to one of the quiz questions about what I thought would be most likely to advance the state of Go in the United States. Choices included Michael Redmond (an american born professional) winning a Very Important Tournament, Paris Hilton taking up Go (this included an amusing photoshopped picture of Paris reading “Breakthrough to Shodan“), Go being designated as an Olympic Sport (my choice), or full seasons of Hikaru No Go being shown on a popular american cable channel in a decent time slot. I saw my name in the next weeks letter, as the winner picked at random from the respondents. There was no mention of there being a prize for this contribution, I just thought it was a for-fun survey. Then this arrived out of the blue.Woo Hoo!
I’ve been browsing the different vendors mentioned on the reverse of the certificate who honor the gift/award cert, but havent yet picked out my plunder. I look forward to whatever it is, and will think of it as a direct gift back from the AGA to me, towards my further development at the game of Go.
I have been quite busy this last week, if it was not already obvious by my lack of update, both with mundane work-related matters, and with a new Go-related project of mine, which I will be quite excited to talk more about here soon. I look forward to perhaps contributing back to the community of people who have given me so much of their time and learning about this marvelous game in a way that enhances that experience for everyone. Stay tuned!
